The legal bit, in plain English

AI literacy is now a legal duty, and generic training doesn't meet it.

Since 2 February 2025, Article 4 of the EU AI Act has required organisations that deploy AI to take measures on staff AI literacy. Here is the wording currently in force:

“Providers and deployers of AI systems shall take measures to ensure, to their best extent, a sufficient level of AI literacy of their staff and other persons dealing with the operation and use of AI systems on their behalf, taking into account their technical knowledge, experience, education and training and the context the AI systems are to be used in…”

That wording is about to change. The EU's Digital Omnibus reform has passed both Parliament and Council and is expected to be published in the Official Journal before 2 August 2026. Once it is, Article 4 softens from an obligation to ensure a sufficient level of AI literacy to an obligation to support the development of it, an obligation of effort rather than a guaranteed result.

That change does not make the duty disappear, and it does not make generic training defensible under either version. Whether the standard is to ensure or to support, the law still asks for literacy that reflects each person's knowledge, experience and context of use. Different roles, different training. That is not our sales angle. It is the requirement, whichever wording ends up applying.

So that is exactly how we build it: specific and proportionate to job roles and titles, not generic tool training. Your conveyancers train on conveyancing work. Your finance team trains on finance work. Everyone leaves with skills they can use within the hour, and your firm gains documented, role-appropriate training it can point to whenever someone asks how it meets Article 4.

We learn your roles first

Before anyone trains, we understand who does what. The training a paralegal needs is not the training a practice manager needs, and neither of them needs what the marketing team needs. Each group gets its own session, built for its own work.

Your workflows, not your client files

Training runs on the actual tasks your people do every day: the prompts, the formats, the edge cases. We use prepared dummy data rather than live client documents. This is deliberate and we say so out loud. Watching a trainer refuse to let a paralegal paste a real contract into ChatGPT is often the most effective risk lesson of the entire day. The workflows are real. The data stays safe.

Every session covers what these tools get wrong: hallucination, data leakage, confidentiality. Your team learns to check outputs the way a good professional checks a junior's work. Sceptical staff often become the most careful and capable users in the room.
